Opal Lilly is derived from The Cryanthus species and has been developed in New Zealand by Crop and Food and a Palmerston North Grower. Cryanthus is a South African genus of bulbous plants. Valota is the best known of this species in New Zealand but we have here in the Opal bulb a different bred species comprising 4 distinct cultivars.
The cultivars are - Maree, Elizabeth, Emily and Sharleen.
Maree flowers mid Jan to mid Feb in a green house environment
Elizabeth and Emily October to November
